ELAB: Extensive LLM Alignment Benchmark in Persian Language

This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation framework for aligning Persian Large Language Models (LLMs) with critical ethical dimensions, including safety, fairness, and social norms. It addresses the gaps in existing LLM evaluation frameworks by adapting them to Persian linguistic and cultural contexts. This benchmark creates three types of Persian-language benchmarks: (i) translated data, (ii) new data generated synthetically, and (iii) new naturally collected data. We translate Anthropic Red Teaming data, AdvBench, HarmBench, and DecodingTrust into Persian. Furthermore, we create ProhibiBench-fa, SafeBench-fa, FairBench-fa, and SocialBench-fa as new datasets to address harmful and prohibited content in indigenous culture. Moreover, we collect extensive dataset as GuardBench-fa to consider Persian cultural norms. By combining these datasets, our work establishes a unified framework for evaluating Persian LLMs, offering a new approach to culturally grounded alignment evaluation. A systematic evaluation of Persian LLMs is performed across the three alignment aspects: safety (avoiding harmful content), fairness (mitigating biases), and social norms (adhering to culturally accepted behaviors). PsiLogic: Chaos-Aware Active Cancellation for Adam with a Fair Cross-Domain Benchmark

Adaptive optimizers such as Adam and AdamW apply the same update rule regardless of whether training is in a chaotic early phase or near convergence. We introduce PsiLogic, an optimizer that augments Adam with a dynamic Active Cancellation Term gated by a dual exponential moving average (EMA) of scale-normalized gradient norms. The resulting chaos detector strengthens damping when gradient statistics are unstable and fades to zero as training stabilizes, providing an implicit warmup without a hand-tuned schedule. We evaluate PsiLogic against Adam, AdamW, and Lion using FairBench -- a reproducible benchmark protocol with per-optimizer learning-rate sweeps, identical initialization per seed, and Welch t-tests. On an NVIDIA H100 80GB reference run (4 arenas, 3 seeds, 2000 steps, bf16 AMP), PsiLogic achieves the best validation metric in three of four arenas: NLP perplexity 7.79 +/- 0.18 vs. 8.17 +/- 0.08 (AdamW, p = 0.049), ViT top-1 accuracy 0.244 +/- 0.006 vs. 0.223 +/- 0.002 (AdamW, p = 0.015), and ResNet top-1 accuracy 0.222 +/- 0.001 vs. 0.172 +/- 0.004 (Adam, p = 0.001). On diffusion, validation MSE is statistically tied with Adam/AdamW (p = 0.49). ResNet accuracy vs. AdamW is a numerical tie without significance at three seeds (p = 0.44). Peak GPU memory is comparable across optimizers; PsiLogic incurs 1.2--1.8x wall-clock overhead on transformer-heavy arenas (implementation-bound). We release an open-source PyTorch implementation, the full FairBench harness, and all raw CSV outputs to support independent verification.

Fine-grained Audible Video Description

We explore a new task for audio-visual-language modeling called fine-grained audible video description (FAVD). It aims to provide detailed textual descriptions for the given audible videos, including the appearance and spatial locations of each object, the actions of moving objects, and the sounds in videos. Existing visual-language modeling tasks often concentrate on visual cues in videos while undervaluing the language and audio modalities. On the other hand, FAVD requires not only audio-visual-language modeling skills but also paragraph-level language generation abilities. We construct the first fine-grained audible video description benchmark (FAVDBench) to facilitate this research. For each video clip, we first provide a one-sentence summary of the video, ie, the caption, followed by 4-6 sentences describing the visual details and 1-2 audio-related descriptions at the end. The descriptions are provided in both English and Chinese. We create two new metrics for this task: an EntityScore to gauge the completeness of entities in the visual descriptions, and an AudioScore to assess the audio descriptions. As a preliminary approach to this task, we propose an audio-visual-language transformer that extends existing video captioning model with an additional audio branch. We combine the masked language modeling and auto-regressive language modeling losses to optimize our model so that it can produce paragraph-level descriptions. We illustrate the efficiency of our model in audio-visual-language modeling by evaluating it against the proposed benchmark using both conventional captioning metrics and our proposed metrics. We further put our benchmark to the test in video generation models, demonstrating that employing fine-grained video descriptions can create more intricate videos than using captions.

FactBench: A Dynamic Benchmark for In-the-Wild Language Model Factuality Evaluation

Language models (LMs) are widely used by an increasing number of users, underscoring the challenge of maintaining factuality across a broad range of topics. We first present VERIFY (Verification and Evidence RetrIeval for FactualitY evaluation), a pipeline to evaluate LMs' factuality in real-world user interactions. VERIFY considers the verifiability of LM-generated content and categorizes content units as supported, unsupported, or undecidable based on the retrieved evidence from the Web. Importantly, factuality judgment by VERIFY correlates better with human evaluations than existing methods. Using VERIFY, we identify "hallucination prompts" across diverse topics, i.e., those eliciting the highest rates of incorrect and inconclusive LM responses. These prompts form FactBench, a dataset of 1K prompts across 150 fine-grained topics. Our dataset captures emerging factuality challenges in real-world LM interactions and can be regularly updated with new prompts. We benchmark widely-used LMs from GPT, Gemini, and Llama3.1 family on FactBench, yielding the following key findings: (i) Proprietary models exhibit better factuality, with performance declining from Easy to Hard hallucination prompts. (ii) Llama3.1-405B-Instruct shows comparable or lower factual accuracy than Llama3.1-70B-Instruct across all evaluation methods due to its higher subjectivity that leads to more content labeled as undecidable. (iii) Gemini1.5-Pro shows a significantly higher refusal rate, with over-refusal in 25% of cases. Benchmarking Vision Language Model Unlearning via Fictitious Facial Identity Dataset

Machine unlearning has emerged as an effective strategy for forgetting specific information in the training data. However, with the increasing integration of visual data, privacy concerns in Vision Language Models (VLMs) remain underexplored. To address this, we introduce Facial Identity Unlearning Benchmark (FIUBench), a novel VLM unlearning benchmark designed to robustly evaluate the effectiveness of unlearning algorithms under the Right to be Forgotten setting. Specifically, we formulate the VLM unlearning task via constructing the Fictitious Facial Identity VQA dataset and apply a two-stage evaluation pipeline that is designed to precisely control the sources of information and their exposure levels. In terms of evaluation, since VLM supports various forms of ways to ask questions with the same semantic meaning, we also provide robust evaluation metrics including membership inference attacks and carefully designed adversarial privacy attacks to evaluate the performance of algorithms. Through the evaluation of four baseline VLM unlearning algorithms within FIUBench, we find that all methods remain limited in their unlearning performance, with significant trade-offs between model utility and forget quality. Furthermore, our findings also highlight the importance of privacy attacks for robust evaluations. We hope FIUBench will drive progress in developing more effective VLM unlearning algorithms.

DailyBench: A Unified Benchmark for AI-Generated and Manipulated Images from Modern Generative Models

Recent advances in generative models have shifted AI-generated image detection from identifying easily distinguishable, fully synthetic images to identifying highly realistic content generated by both modern generation and manipulation pipelines. However, existing detection benchmarks are often built with outdated generative models and primarily emphasize full-image synthesis, creating a growing mismatch between benchmark data and the images encountered in real-world generation and editing scenarios. To bridge this gap, we introduce DailyBench, a high-quality unified benchmark for evaluating whether AI-generated image detectors can generalize across both modern full-image synthesis and object-level manipulation. DailyBench contains two complementary subsets: FakeBench, which includes high-quality images synthesized by recent open-source and commercial generative models, and ManipulationBench, which introduces challenging object-level edits applied to real images using advanced image-conditional models. This design makes DailyBench a realistic testbed for studying both generator-level generalization and manipulation-aware detection under subtle local edits. Experiments on DailyBench reveal substantial robustness gaps in current detectors: methods reporting 91-96% balanced accuracy on GenImage drop to 60-76% on FakeBench and 54-66% on ManipulationBench. These results show that existing detectors remain poorly generalized to realistic synthesis and manipulation, highlighting DailyBench as a rigorous testbed for developing robust and manipulation-aware AI-generated image detection methods.
